How does endermologie work?
The endermologie treatment involves massaging and exercising the skin in problem or target areas, to stimulate rejuvenation from within. The goal of the procedure is to break down excess fibrous connective tissue that forms beneath the skin around fat cells in order to boost metabolism and eliminate toxin build-up. Deep massage of the skin, and of the layer of muscle and fat tissue directly under the skin, encourages lymphatic drainage to reduce fluid retention and toxic contaminates. This can help to enhance skin tone and promote a more youthful and healthy appearance to the skin.
To massage the skin and muscle tissues, endermologie practitioners use a specially formulated hand-held tool equipped with massaging rollers and gentle suction valves. The suction helps to safely lift and even out the skin as the kneading motion of the rollers stimulates the skin and connective tissue in the treatment areas. Clients wear a full body stocking while the rollers and suction work over the entire body or face, concentrating on specific problem zones if needed. Cutaneous blood flow can be increased by up to 400 percent, enhancing metabolism, skin elasticity and offering significant restoration in skin tone and appearance. As a result, collagen and elastin production is improved and skin and fat cells are redistributed to give a smoother, less dimpled appearance.
How much does endermologie cost?
Pricing for endermologie procedures will vary depending on the provider and location. Individual sessions may cost in the area of $100.00- $160.00. Special pricing packages may be offered for multiple sessions that are purchased at one time. Many people find it economically beneficial to buy 10 to 30 treatments in advance. Pricing of the endermologie procedure, adding up the multiple sessions that may be needed, can be comparable to a single treatment of liposuction; although the unique endermologie process helps resolve problems and issues not addressed by liposuction or other treatments.
How many endermologie treatments does it take to see results?
Most women will see and feel the difference in skin tone and elasticity after the first five or six treatment sessions. For a significant reduction in the appearance of cellulite dimples, it may take more. Many clients notice smoother skin between 14 and 28 sessions, with more improvements as the treatments continue. For substantial reshaping and inch loss, several courses of treatments are recommended, with each course consisting of about 15 sessions each. Results do tend to vary depending on the age and lifestyle of clients, and with the number and frequency of treatment visits.
A healthy and active lifestyle can speed up the endermologie process and help to extend the results. The best way to prep the body for dramatic results and keep them for longer is to engage in regular exercise and drink eight glasses of water a day. It is also recommended to schedule monthly maintenance treatments to accelerate and prolong the effects of endermologie and keep the skin looking its best.
What is cellulite?
Cellulite is a skin condition marked by a specific lumpy or dimpled appearance caused by uneven fat deposits just below the surface layer of the skin. In the medical world cellulite may be known by various names such as adiposis edematosa, dermopanniculosis deformans, status protrusus cutis, or gynoid lipodystrophy. Though it can affect people differently, cellulite is generally found on the mid-to-lower body, including the abdomen, pelvic area, thighs, and buttocks. The dimpling and unevenness caused by cellulite is often a source of cosmetic discomfort and dissatisfaction for those affected with the condition.
Who gets cellulite?
Cellulite generally forms in women after puberty, though men can present with cellulite symptoms as well. People of all shapes and sizes may have cellulite. While fat tissues are a contributing factor in the cause, because the conditions occurs just under the surface of the skin, oftentimes weight loss and physical fitness does little to help reduce the bumps and craters of cellulite. It can occur in most adult bodies regardless of health factors, though weight gain, lifestyle, and age will worsen the effects over time.
What does cellulite look like?
In many people cellulite causes bumpy, uneven skin. Some may compare it to the appearance of an orange peel or cottage cheese. It can present itself as rough-looking, wrinkled skin or as more of a lumpy, hilly texture. It is most often found on the thighs, buttocks, stomach, and upper arm regions.
Where does cellulite come from?
All of the causes of cellulite are not fully known; however, scientists believe the explanation involves a combination of many factors like gender, hormonal factors, diet, lifestyle, and genetics.
Women are far more likely to have cellulite than men. This may be due to the differences in body type and fat distribution as well as due to specific female hormones. Other hormonal compounds like those in the thyroid, insulin, and prolactin are also thought to have an effect on cellulite production.
A person’s dietary habits will often affect the development of cellulite in the skin. Eating an unbalanced diet with too much fat, salt, and carbohydrates and too little fibre and vegetables may compound the effects of cellulite and worsen its appearance.
Lifestyle factors may also contribute to the formation of cellulite. It may occur more in those who smoke, drink alcohol, and those who don’t get enough exercise. The role of the body’s circulation is thought to be an important component of skin health. As such, remaining sedentary for long periods of time or wearing tight clothing, both which limit blood, flow may also be underlying factors.
At the end of the day a tendency towards cellulite may simply be predestined by our genetics. Metabolism, fat distribution, body shape, and circulatory health are all somewhat determined by hereditary, which will more than likely play a significant role in the development of cellulite.
How does cellulite form?
Cellulite is caused when uneven fat and toxin deposits get trapped around fibrous connective tissue between the skin and muscle. This layer of fibrous tissue plays the important role of connecting the skin to the muscle tissue beneath it. The connective tissue forms interlocking bands called septae, which in turn create little pockets beneath the skin. Over time these fats, retained fluids, toxins, and other tissues can build up in the pockets and expand against the skin above them. With the fat tissues pushing up and the septae bands continuing to pull the skin down in certain places, lumps and craters develop on the skin, giving cellulite its familiar dimpled form.
Which cellulite treatments work?
There are a number of treatments that may be effective in removing and reducing the appearance of cellulite.
One effective treatment method used to address the problems of cellulite involves specially formulated massages. Endermologie, Pneumatic massages and compression treatments can all be used help to promote circulation, lymphatic flow, and redistribution of skin and fat tissues. These methods have been shown to have significant body shaping results and reduction in the appearance of cellulite.
Another option is the use of pharmacological treatments. Certain drugs and remedies may be able to target fatty tissues to help relieve the symptoms of cellulite. There are a wide variety of pharmacological agents on the market and they range from oral medicines, topical lotions, and injectable treatments.
Many doctors and salons also recommend therapeutic treatments. Heat and cold therapies can be used by skilled practitioners to target fat tissues under the skin. There are also worthwhile procedures involving ultrasound, radio frequencies, magnetic impulses, or electrical stimulation that show promising results in rejuvenating the skin and reducing cellulite.
Living a healthy lifestyle is one of the best things you can do to help resolve the problems associated with cellulite. Alone or in conjunction with another treatment option, choosing to live healthily can combat the negative effects of cellulite. Eating a balanced diet, getting plenty of exercise, and drinking eight glasses of water each day will promote healthy skin tone and fitness.
